The "Scheunentor" (German noun for barn door) was produced quickly as a stopgap weapon. This powerful anti-tank gun was intended to be deployed quickly for the German Army; it was built up with a 10.5cm light howitzer carriage, 15cm heavy howitzer wheels and a long-barrel 88mm gun. AFV Club has reproduced these details with a combination of materials. The barrel is made of lathed aluminum; the solid rubber rim of the wheels is made of black rubber and the dust boots of the equilibrator are of black vinyl tubing. The most notable feature of this kit is the large pressed-brass gun shields, which were the origin of the gun's nickname. Photographs by Don Jones. |

This is a resin and metal kit by Brigade Models of Russia. The body is hollow cast and the motor is excellent! I found it on eBay and built it for a change of pace. These do pop up on eBay from time to time. I don't know if it is still in production. Photographs by Richard Eaton. |
