DML 1/35th scale Strumgechutze III Ausf. B Assault Gun
This kit was purchased in 1996. This is a kit of many firsts for me, although built mostly straight out of the box. First kit built in Austin, Texas; first with individual track links; first using pastel chalks; first using real rust; edge painting; Grief headlights; etc.
There are serveral flaws in my execution, most noticeabe being sink holes on the rear sprockets (oops) and the outline of an escape hatch (?) on the lower hull that I not only forgot to install (or didn’t exist on this version ?) but applied a wash to so that it really sticks out. Oh Well.
Regardless, this will probably remain one of my favorite projects. It is also one I may never consider finished. Every few months I’ll take it out and improve it. I started it nine years ago, and got it to its present state a couple of months ago. Ultimately I will build another Stug III B with Friul tracks, Aber phote-etch, Jaguar Stug III D interior (close enough, I think), and so on.
