Meeting Highlights


We had 21 modelers attend the March 2006 Austin Armor Builders Society meeting. We also had a vistor, Historian Stephen L. Hardin, Phd. Dr. Hardin is the author many books about Texas History. Most notably, The Alamo 1836 - Santa Anna's Texas Campaign, the documentary The Alamo Documentary, Texian Iliad and The Texas Rangers.

Thank you for all coming to the meeting. Please be sure you have paid up your membership dues. Thank you to everyone who brought in their work and entries for the Red Cross Month contest. Russ Holm brought in his 1/72nd scale Roman Siege Tower by Zvezda. Bob Bethea brought in another one of the new Gen2 Dragon figures (a German general). Rick Herrington brought in his Dragon 251C 3-in-1 German Halftrack and figures. Sam Brister brought one of his 1/6th scale figures. This time it was a figure of an American Paratrooper jumping over a wall in Normandy. Sam also brought in a Tamiya 250 he is working on for That 70's Show contest. Jorge Aduna brought a American Ambulance and finally, Terry D. Lowman donated a Austin Armor Builders Society banner. Terry is leaving the club and moving to Arizona to start up a new business. He will be deeply missed. We all wish Terry the best in his new adventure!

Red Cross Month Contest


This is our 3rd annual Red Cross Month Contest we have held. We had four entries this year. The winner was Pat Rourke's Kublewagen. A special thank you to Worth D. Haggerton for sponsoring this event and providing the award.

AMPS International

The next AMPS International Convention is April 28-29, 2006 at the WWII Vehicle Museum in Hubbard, Ohio.


Kit Winner
Since we missed the meeting in January, we included another kit this month. Worth D. Haggerton won the Tamiya Sd.Kfz 251 Ausf. D Halftrack (Kit No: 35195). Karl Leidy won a book on Paratroopers and Ted Paone won the Gen2 figure set 1940 Holland Fallischmjager from Dragon. Kits were donated by Terry D. Lowman and Roderick Bell. Book provided by Bob Bethea.
