There were 22 members present at the May 2005 meeting.  Three new members joined our ranks.  They are Mike Cunningham from Austin , Texas and Shawn Merrell from Austin , Texas and Matt Ryder from Olive Branch, Mississippi .

Meeting Highlights 


At the May 2005 meeting three new members signed up.  Bob Bethea brought in two pieces he is working on; The Trumpeter H-39 and the DML Pak40 Anti-Tank gun.  Marty Martinez brought in his Vickers Mk VI Light Tank fresh off a win at the Austin Scale Modelers 2005 Show.  Rick Herrington brought in his AFV Club SdKfz. 251D and his Tamiya SdKfz. 251D and allowed for a side by side comparison.  The T-34 Model 1941 Team Build Contest is still underway.  Team 3 was the only team to bring their model in for all to see.  Next month all teams will have to display their models to be judge on by the club.  And finally, Tom Ferris shrunk his 1/35th Scale Puma to a 1/72nd scale Puma.  Actually, Tom built the Hasagawa 1/7nd scale Puma.

Modeling Teams for Club Contest


It is down to the last month before the June T-34 Model 1941 Team Contest. The fourth phase of the T-34 Model 1941 team build contest has been completed.  Each of the four teams have built the model, done the track assembly, Painted and Faded the model, as well as weathering.  Each team's weather should have passed the model off to the member  Each team's painter has passed the model off to the member doing the weathering.  The team member responsible for weathering will bring back the kit at the May meeting to handoff to the next team member (Display Base).

Club Show Theme

Theme: The C.B.I. - Pacific Theatre 1931 - 1945

The AMPS South Central Region show (AMPSCENTEX 2005) theme has been choosen! The theme will be "The C.B.I. (China, Burma, India) - Pacific Theatre 1931 - 1945".  This will include everything begining from 1931 in Manchuria through 1945. 

The show will be held October 28-29, 2005 at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas.


Raffle Winner


This month we had two Raffle winners!  One of our newest members, Mike Cunningham won the three book series ARMOR in Normandy (The Americans, The British, and The Germans) by Alexandre Thers.  Also included was an AMPS pin, Hornet Heads, and the FineScale Modelers Magizne.   




 

 

 

 

 

Also, Marc Hobbs won a T-60 Russian Light Tank by Modelcraft.  Once again, the Raffle Prizes were provided by Terry D. Lowman.
